40 Trips for 40 Years
1/23/2009
The slogan "Virginia is for Lovers" has reached its 40th year of heralding that whatever a person most loves about a vacation, whatever passion one has, Virginia is the ideal destination. To mark the anniversary, the Virginia Tourism Corporation is running a sweepstakes, giving away a trip a week for 40 weeks. Our Chesapeake Bay Region of the BBAV is proud to announce that our new three-night package, "Rainbow Chaser," has been selected as one of the prize vacations. "Rainbow" emphasizes that there is a full spectrum of delights in our region: to suggest a single theme - such as sailing, kayaking, fishing, winery tours, antiquing, golf, art studio tours, art workshops, bird watching, gardens, genealogy, history or architecture - would be far too narrow. Live Passionately! and spend your vacations with us. You'll find details on our Specials page and can enter the sweepstakes on the VTC site.

We're Turning Green
1/1/2009
Since the pilot launch in 2006, Virginia Green has taken off, and has been endorsed by the BBAV. Passionate about the environment, six of our regional member inns have been certified for the Virginia Green Lodging program. Look for the logo in our directory of member inns. Virginia Green is a partnership between the Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC), the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and the Virginia Hospitality and Travel Association (VHTA). DEQ is responsible for Virginia Green certification. Certified businesses commit to voluntary, waste-reducing activities such as recycling, optional linen service, water and energy conservation, green cleaning, purchasing environmentally friendly products and other steps that help reduce harmful environmental effects.

Battle of the Hook
10/18/2008
A first for our regional members: we were able to participate as co-sponsors of a new historical commemoration effort in the fall of 2008, the first re-enactment of the Battle of the Hook on October 18-19. Member inn The Inn at Warner Hall was host for the event. While the Middle Peninsula has often been overlooked in favor of Virginia's Peninsula with the Historic Triangle, or in favor of the Northern Neck with its presidential homes and landmarks, it, too, has been the scene of important moments in our nation's history. We're glad to see this part of our region step into the spotlight.
